How Local First Arizona Advocates for Environmental Sustainability

We've worked to make all of our events Towards Zero Waste (TZW) events.

Thanks to the help of numerous volunteers and event partners, we managed to divert 11,000 pounds of waste that was produced at our events from landfills in 2016.

We support and participate in community events concerning sustainability.

Some of the events we've recently participated in include ASU Zero Food Waste Forum, Arizona Forward Stewardship Summit, Earth Day at Glendale Community College, PLANeT Celebration at Desert Botanical Garden, and others.

We partner with organizations devoted to sustainability and support their work.

Collaboration is the key to success in any endeavor, and we have built partnerships and identified opportunities with many organizations. Some of our partners include RecycleBank, Water - Use It Wisely, Keep Phoenix Beautiful, City of Phoenix Public Works/Reimagine Phoenix, Arizona Recycling Coalition, eGreenIT Solutions, Recycled City, Tucson 2030 District, UA Compost Cats, and more.

We help our business members go green.

At our Phoenix networking mixers, we've introduced e-waste collection to provide a secure location to dispose of e-waste. We've also consulted with some of our members one-on-one to help them change systems to reduce waste, conserve energy, reduce water use and create a sustainability culture in the workplace.
