A Celebration of Black History in Globe

  • 660 East Ash Street Globe, AZ, 85501 United States (map)

Join us for a Black History Month Celebration of Theater at The Art of Nja Onê Gallery! This features not only Nja, but other awesome local talents Lee Ann Powers and Marie Brantley!

Lee An will be presenting the compelling and fascinating story of Late 19th Century Globe resident, Alvin Booth. Watch the event video for a preview! Marie will be singing "Strange Fruit," made famous by jazz singer, Ms. Billie Holiday.

Nja will be acting out one of her spirit paintings, "Mama La Grande", who was born into slavery during the Post-Civil War Reconstruction period in Louisiana.

We will also mention some current figures making history now!
Light refreshments will be served and a good time for all is promised!
