Recyclebank and Local First Arizona Create a Win-Win for the Environment and Phoenix Economy

Phoenix, AZ – Members of Recyclebank will soon be able to garner new local rewards through its partnership with Local First Arizona. Recyclebank, an innovative program designed to educate and reward Phoenix residents for participating in the City’s sustainability programs, recently partnered with Local First Arizona to enhance the Recyclebank rewards catalog with discounts on products and services from an even greater number of local businesses.

Leveraging data analysis and insights, Recyclebank’s education and incentives platform provides personalized content and rewards for Phoenix residents, encouraging them to turn trash into resources and to lead more sustainable lives. With 14 years of experience in residential education and waste-focused behavior change, the company aims to augment and amplify the City of Phoenix’s recycling, waste diversion, and broader sustainability goals. By fostering community support of local businesses, Recyclebank is also contributing to the prosperity of the city, fomenting job creation, and keeping money circulating in the local economy.

“We are proud to promote a circular economy and to inspire people to make green choices,” says Paul Winn, Chief Revenue Officer of Recyclebank. “Our program offers incentives to support local businesses by increasing foot traffic, sales, and ultimately, jobs in the communities we serve. We are proud to partner with Local First Arizona to bring great local rewards to our members and positively impact the Phoenix economy.”

Since January 2017, Recyclebank has been charged with supporting the Reimagine Phoenix initiative and its goal of diverting 40% of the trash from the landfill by the year 2020 through increased residential participation. By signing up at Recyclebank.com/Phoenix, Phoenix residents can learn how to make sustainable purchases and reduce waste in their daily lives. Recyclebank members earn points for recycling at the curb and for learning more about their disposal habits’ impact on the environment. They can then turn those points into a variety of rewards, including discounts at local businesses.

"Local First Arizona promotes economic sustainability and keeping our dollars circulating in the local economy, but we can only have truly sustainable communities if this practice is in partnership with environmental sustainability,” says Kimber Lanning, Founder and Executive Director of Local First Arizona. “We are proud to partner with Recyclebank to encourage our business members to implement sustainable practices as well as to provide individual members with discounts and benefits with local businesses,” she said. “By engaging with local businesses, Arizonans know that for every dollar they spend locally, up to four times more money stays in the local economy than if they spent that money at a national chain business. Their money will recirculate in the local economy and will also support Phoenix’s goal of becoming more sustainable."

14 Local First Arizona members are now part of the portfolio of over 200 Phoenix-area restaurants, retailers, and attractions that offer savings to Phoenix residents who join Recyclebank.
