Discover Something Local and New this Independents Week

20% discount Golden Coupon attracts new customers, supports local businesses during rough summers

Across Arizona (June 14, 2019) - Local First Arizona honors independent businesses with a statewide campaign, called Independents Week, or “Indie Week”, from Saturday, June 29 - Sunday, July 7, 2019. Arizonans can participate in the campaign by using a Golden Coupon at hundreds of participating local businesses to receive a 20 percent discount throughout the week.

Independents Week aims to boost local business support during the summertime, when the temperature heats up and businesses in the Phoenix area see profits dip. The goal of the annual campaign is to not only add more dollars to our local economies but encourage localists to discover something local and new.

“Independents Week is a great way to try a new business and support your community,” says Thomas Barr, Executive Director of Local First Arizona, “Our local businesses are vital to our economy and help to keep four times more dollars here. This campaign is a way to celebrate local businesses and show our local pride.”

Celebrity Videos - During Independents Week, tune into Local First Arizona’s social media accounts, (@LocalFirstAZ), to see surprise local celebrities, artists, and government officials share their favorite local businesses and why it’s so important to support small businesses.

Twitter Chat - Local entrepreneurs are invited to join the Twitter #IndieChatAZ to share tips for being successful and how to support local businesses in Arizona. The chat is hosted by Local First Arizona, Downtown Flagstaff, Visit Tucson, and #YESPHX on Friday, June 28 from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Followers can join the conversation using the hashtag #IndieChatAZ #IndieWeekAZ.

Social Media Contest - A social media contest is planned for participants of Indie Week encouraging Arizonans to snap a selfie in front of a dedicated mural and post to social media using the event hashtag: #IndieWeekAZ. The contest will run June 29 - July 7 and a winner will be announced on the event Facebook page Tuesday, July 9. The mural is located at 417 E Roosevelt St, Phoenix, AZ 85004.
