Walkin' On Main - Art, Wine, Music, and Fun in Historic Old Town Cottonwood

The City of Cottonwood is celebrating Historic 89A and the Verde Valley with the annual Walkin' on Main event, November 11th, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. presented by your local Edward Jones offices and Local First Arizona.  Enjoy local wine, art, shopping, and live music all day in an outdoor setting surrounded by the charming galleries, shops and local restaurants of Old Town Cottonwood.  This is a free, family-friendly, community event for all.

Art Displays and Retail Vendors

Display tents right in the middle of a closed portion of Main Street will house art exhibits, retail vendors, unique community interests, and interactive displays. The Mingus Union High School Fine Art students will be returning this year to show off their fine art skills both in finished art works, as well as an interactive sidewalk chalk mural.  Additional artwork will be shown by Elle Valle Artist Association, the Northern Arizona Water Color Society, and a variety of other individual artists, potters, jewelry makers, and fiber wear.

ARC Contemporary Fine Art at the Manheim Gallery will be showcasing several large pieces by well known sculptors that will be placed at key locations along the closed portion of Historic 89A.

Main Street Shopping

Main Street is also home to shopping gems in the line of women's apparel and accessories, Gourmet foods, olive oil and balsamic vinegrettes, at locations like The Red Geranium Boutique, Rainbow's End, Little Moo's Gourmet Market, Verde Valley Olive Oil Traders, and Pink Rain Boutique. You can also find kites, collectibles and souvenirs, mugs, t-shirts and hats from the Old Town General Store.   Art collectors and purveyors can from an array of fine art galleries housing a wide array of craftsmanship in ceramics, oil paintings, jewelry and more found at ARC Contemporary Fine Art at the Manheim Gallery, the Old Town Frame Company, and Hart of AZ Art Gallery among others.

Live Music

Live music will play throughout the day featuring local Arizona artists and musicians. Main Street is the perfect place to enjoy a long list of entertainment and dancing. Stay tuned for the full line up of local talent.

Arizona Wine Tasting

The Verde Valley Wine Consortium will host their Wine Tasting Garden right on Main Street, showcasing some of Arizona's premier wine, many of which are from right here in the Verde Valley. Tasting tickets with complimentary wine glasses are available with proceeds supporting the local wine industry.  This year's participating wineries and vineyards include: Arizona Stronghold Vineyards, Burning Tree Cellars, Caduceus Cellars, Merkin Vineyards, Page Spring CellarsFour Eight Wine WorksWinery 101Fire Mountain Wines, and Pillsbury Wines.  The Verde Valley Wine Consortium is a key partner of the Walkin' On Main event, working to bring attention to Northern Arizona's burgeoning wine industry and encouraging tourism, economic development, and education to all.

Antique Car Show

Another highlight of the day includes the antique and classic car show on display on the north side of Historic 89A.  Organized and hosted by the Mingus Union Hot Rod Club, this colorful line up of hot rods and collectible cars is one more reason to meander Main Street during the main event. Last year's line up consisted of nearly 80 cars, included low riders, classics, customs, muscle cars, imports and trucks. The show provides participants and event attendees great photo opportunities and a chance for good ol’ fashion car talk.
