Historic Cottonwood Hotel Adds More Rooms to Meet Verde Valley Tourism Demand

The Tavern Hotel in Old Town Cottonwood, Arizona, has expanded, totaling 45 retro-rustic rooms with contemporary design.

The upscale boutique hotel will now offer a series of packages geared towards active guests, including one-and-two night stays that suggest recreational opportunities throughout the region.

Some include kayaking the Verde River, horseback riding into the soft backcountry of the Verde Valley, riding the Verde Canyon Railroad in the canyon populated by bald and golden eagles and wine tasting.

Accommodations feature one king sized bed or two queen sized beds, modern furnishing, walk-in showers, plush bedding with cotton linens, flat-screen televisions and free Wi-Fi. If traveling with a larger party, the Tavern Hotel offers lavish penthouses and pet-friendly guesthouses with a yard.

Being part of the Haunted Group, a collection of innovative restaurants created by Eric and Michelle Jurisin, the Tavern Hotel is just one of the many preserved historic buildings that lead to the rebirth of Old Town Cottonwood.

Haunted Group restaurants include Nic’s Italian Steak & Crab House, Tavern Grille, Pizzeria Bocce and Crema Craft Kitchen + Bar, all within walking range of the hotel.

Hike and mountain bike on the trails of Dead Horse Ranch State Park or explore Sycamore Canyon Wilderness and the ancient pueblos at Tuzigoot National Monument.

Nestled on the banks of the Verde River, Cottonwood is located just 90 minutes north of Phoenix, and only minutes from Sedona and Jerome. Explore the area with Local First Arizona's Verde Valley Small Wonders Map.
