After the first Local First Arizona mixer in Bisbee, we wanted to take the time to inform our members and supporters about some of the increasing efforts happening throughout Cochise County. We can't wait to keep growing and continuing to support independently owned businesses in Cochise County!

Bisbee Mixers

On Thursday February 22nd, Local First Arizona held its very first mixer in Bisbee. With over 80 attendees, delicious food, local wine and brews, live music, and an exciting raffle, the evening was a hit! Local First Arizona Executive Director, Kimber Lanning, discussed the history of LFA and spoke with guests about why it is so important to shop locally. Attendees also learned how supporting our local businesses helps ensure the future and sustainability of our communities and Arizona's economy as a whole.

Thank you to all who attended. A huge thank you to Ana's Seasonal Kitchen and The Quarry for donating the food and Central School Project for donating their space!

Local First Arizona will begin hosting mixers every 3 months in Bisbee.
If you are interested in participating, please contact Bisbee's Outreach Coordinator,
Rachael Hudson, at [email protected]

I was impressed with the large number of young entrepreneurs/ new business owners in attendance at the February 22 Bisbee Local First Business Mixer. I welcome the opportunity for the City of Bisbee to work more closely with LFA in strengthening the local economy through growing and supporting locally owned businesses.
— Douglas Dunn, City of Bisbee Councilman, Ward 2

Mythbuster Campaigns

Every month Local First Arizona will be publishing Mythbusters. This campaign will bust the myth that local options are more expensive. We want to highlight local businesses that not only offer unique and authentic experiences, but also work to promote the community. You can follow this campaign on the Local First Arizona website under news, and check out the March Mythbuster on local coffee companies.

Shop Local Outreach

Everyone in the community can make a positive impact each day when they choose to spend their money with local companies. These local companies support jobs/job creation, support their community, and provide an overall higher quality of life for all residents. In order to spread this awareness, we are reaching out to a variety of community groups to educate community members on the importance of shopping locally rather than at chain retailers or on Amazon. Additional education of "local" options in Cochise County is another goal. If you would like to have a presentation at your business, community group, or even just furhter educate yourself; please contact Rachael Hudson at [email protected]

Independent's Week

Starting in July, Local First Arizona works to celebrate independently owned businesses by distributing golden tickets throughout the state. During Independent's Week businesses can highlight some of their unique products and encourage consumers to shop locally by agreeing to give a 20% discount at their location or on particular items. Want to participate as a business in Cochise County? Contact Rachael Hudson at [email protected] for more information.
