'Phoenix Sparks' Ignites Pride in Community
Earlier this month, we hosted an event called Phoenix Sparks, which brought 10 of Arizona's Localist thought leaders to the stage of the Orpheum Theatre. Each had 5 minutes and 20 slides to talk about their passions and work in the community. The event was part of the opening night festivities to welcome the national BALLE Conference on Localism to Phoenix, and was intended to showcase the incredible work going on across Arizona to both locals and visitors alike. Speakers included Joe Johnston of Agritopia; Miguel Jardine of The Local Soil Company; Heidi Jannenga of WebPT; Cristobal Martinez of Postcommodity; Oye Waddell of Hustle PHX; Angela Hughey of ONE Community; Joe Larios of Center for Neighborhood Leadership; Ann Morton; Maynard James Keenan of Caduceus Cellars; and Silvana Salcido Esparza of Barrio Cafe and Calle 16.
One by one, each speaker took the stage. Once Chef Silvana, the final presenter, left the stage, the crowd was ablaze with a fiery energy, standing on their feet to applaud each presenter for their efforts to create an Arizona we're all proud to call home.
Rather than describing each presentation, you can relive them! Below are a few selected videos from the evening. Watch all the videos by clicking here.
