Where’s Waldo? Shopping Local!
Hot on the heels of the Passport To Local Success is an even bigger, longer scavenger hunt. The annual “Where’s Waldo” hunt will take you around 4th Avenue and the Sunshine Mile in a search for hidden Waldos. You can pick up Waldo Passports at Antigone Books and Yikes Toys. Then let the hunt begin! This event is fun for the whole family so be sure and bring the kids along. A six inch Waldo is hidden in 25 different locally owned businesses including Barb’s Frame of Mind, The Book Stop, Chocolate Iguana, Delectables, Hopyard, Ordinary Bike Shop, Pop Cycle, Rustic Candle, Tucson Thrift Store, LaSandia, Little Bird Nesting Company, Picante, Yikes Toys and many others. When you spot Waldo, get your Passport stamped. “We participated in this event last year and it’s a great way to introduce people to local businesses,” says Little Bird Nesting Company’s Charlotte Lasselberger. “More than 50% of the people who came in last year looking for Waldo were visiting the store for the first time. It’s a nice way to introduce people to a business they may not have visited before.” Just as in the books, you will want to keep your eyes peeled, because Waldo can be tough to find!
Track down at least 20 of the 25 hidden Waldos then drop your Passport off at Antigone Books to be entered in the prize drawing for a 6 volumes deluxe set of Waldo books and many other great prizes. The Passport must be handed in by July 31st. When you turn in your Passport, you’ll receive an invite to the August ice cream social to celebrate the winners and earn a chance at extra prizes.
