Smithsonian Magazine cites Sedona as one of the Top Small Towns to Visit
It's no surprise to us that the Smithsonian Magazine has named Sedona as one of America's 20 best small towns of 2014. It is a mecca for natural beauty, outdoor activities and attracting alternative lifestyles. It is truly unique to Arizona, but also to the nation. The article sites natural and manmade wonders as being top reasons to visit the Sedona area, including the Coconino National Forest and the Red Rock Wilderness Area, as well as famed Sedona sites, the Chapel of the Holy Cross and Tlaquepaque. But also top on the article's list is the small businesses and the local art scene! There are so many galleries in Sedona that make it one of the top art destinations in the nation, including Goldenstein Gallery and Garland's in Oak Creek Canyon.
Don't forget that there are also several Local First Arizona members in the Sedona area. If you're looking for more galleries to explore, check out the Turquoise Tortoise Gallery and Lanning Gallery in Hozho Plaza. If you're heading to Oak Creek Canyon to Garland's Gallery, be sure to check out Indian Gardens Oak Creek Market for an amazing lunch and lots of other local AZ fare. Another great local spot in Sedona is Oak Creek Brewery, where you can taste local brews and grab an amazing Columbian - style hot dog at Simon's Hot Dogs, located inside the brewery. And finally, when you need to wind down, make a reservation for a massage or body work at Sedona New Day Spa, which just moved in to a new location, and is ready to make your Sedona trip truly relaxing!
