PoeFest 2013 | Rotating Shows Throughout OctoberHotel San Carlos & Rossen House | Phoenix Produced by Arizona Curriculum Theater, 2013 marks our fifth smash year of PoeFest, a month-long celebration of the works of Edgar Allan Poe. PoeFest is not a reading. Our actors perform the works of Edgar Allan Poe in character as inmates from a 19th Century asylum for the criminally insane. FilmBar Frightmare Movie Series | Various shows throughout OctoberFilmBar | Phoenix As part of its ongoing monthly film series, this October FilmBar celebrates all things spooky with Horror films, from classics to beyond and specialty programming on Halloween for those who want to escape the trick or treaters. Ghostfest | October 25 - 26The Torch Theatre | Phoenix The Torch Theatre proudly presents the third annual Ghostfest, an improv comedy marathon. Ghostfest starts at 6:30pm on Friday, October 25th and runs continuously until 2am on Saturday night/Sunday morning. Ghostfest will feature the family friendly Ghostfest Jr. as well as a variety of formats, themed shows and ridiculous fun. Read more.
Howl-O-Ween | October 25 & 26, 6:30 p.m. - 10:30 p.m.The Phoenix Zoo | Phoenix It’s back… Dare to come face to face with terrifying creatures and experience other frightening encounters at the Phoenix Zoo’s wildest event, Howl-O-Ween! Howl-O-Ween will offer a variety of activities that cater to both the brave and the not so brave. All activities will be broken down into 1 of 3 scare levels, Scare Level 1 being the least scary and Scare Level 3 being the scariest. Zombie Walk 5 | October 26, 2:00 p.m.Downtown Phoenix On Saturday, Oct. 26, Downtown Phoenix will be overrun by the living dead and other creatures of the night during Zombie Walk 5, one of the largest zombie walks in the United States. Join a zombie horde of over 10,000 at Heritage and Science Park for an all-day festival and mass shuffle throughout the streets of Downtown. Read more.
The Haunted Hotel Ball | October 26, 9:00 p.m. - 2:00 a.m.Hotel Valley Ho | Scotttsdale The Haunted Hotel Ball, Scottsdale’s hippest Halloween party, returns to Hotel Valley Ho! Top local DJs Decipha and Tranzit will be spinning dance, house, top 40, and hip-hop music in the ballrooms, with cash bars to keep things going. The Room | Every Thursday in October, 7:00 p.m. & 10:00 p.m.Hotel Congress | Tucson The general public has widely believed that the entire third floor of Hotel Congress burned in the infamous fire of 1934. That is mostly true, yet one room remained: Room 328. No guests have entered the room since. For the first time in nearly 80 years, Hotel Congress is opening Room 328 to the public. The Brothers Macabre and Dr. Jonathon Arcane have taken this opportunity to host a series of theatrical séances inside this mysterious and very spooky room that overlooks Congress St. The act will conjure spirits and create illusions that blur the lines between our world and beyond in this haunted magic show.
