Walkin' On Main - Fun For All in Historic Old Town Cottonwood
Art, Wine, History, Music, Cars & So Much More!
The City of Cottonwood is celebrating Historic 89A and the Verde Valley with the 10th Annual Walkin' on Main event, November 10th from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. presented and sponsored by your Cottonwood Edward Jones offices and supported by the Verde Valley Wine Consortium, the City of Cottonwood, Scherich Insurance and Local First Arizona. Art exhibits, retail vendors, and interactive displays will accompany the charming galleries, shops, and local restaurants of Old Town Cottonwood. Walkin’ on Main also features a wine tasting garden courtesy of the Verde Valley Wine Consortium, a Car Show courtesy of the Mingus Union High School Auto Club, and live music throughout the day.
Art Displays and Retail Vendors
Display tents right in the middle of a closed portion of Main Street will house art exhibits, retail vendors, unique community interests, and interactive displays. The Mingus Union High School Fine Art students will be returning this year to show off their creative skills both in finished art works as well as an interactive sidewalk chalk mural. Additional artwork will be shown by Elle Valle Artist Association, the Northern Arizona Water Color Society, and a variety of other individual artists, potters, jewelry makers, and fiber wear.
Main Street Shopping
Main Street is also home to shopping gems in the line of women's apparel and accessories, Gourmet foods, olive oil and balsamic vinegrettes, at locations like The Red Geranium Boutique, Rainbow's End, Little Moo's Gourmet Market, Verde Valley Olive Oil Traders, and Pink Rain Boutique. Art collectors and purveyors can select from an array of fine art galleries housing a wide variety of craftsmanship in ceramics, oil paintings, jewelry and more found at ARC Contemporary Fine Art at the Manheim Gallery and Hart of AZ Art Gallery among others.
Live music begins at 11 a.m. and will continue through 5 p.m. This year’s event will include vibrant, live performances including Keith Okie and Rebel Sol, an emerging force on the southwestern music scene; The VanReed Brothers; and Big Nick and the Gila Monsters, a Blues musical group together since 1993. Arizona Wine Tasting
The Verde Valley Wine Consortium will host wine tasting on the closed-off portion of Historic 89A. Tasters will enjoy premium Verde Valley wines and receive a complimentary tasting glass with their ticket purchase. The Verde Valley Wine Consortium focuses on the overall advancement of the region’s wine industry, concentrating on tourism, economic development, and education in the Verde Valley.
The Car Show will be hosted from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and provides participants and event attendees great photo opportunities and a chance for good ol’ fashion car talk. See some of the state’s most unique cars, trucks, and collectible models which compliment the main event attraction.
