Camp Verde Dark Sky Festival

Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 1:45 PM – 9 PM

Camp Verde is the world’s newest International Dark Sky Community - the 20th ever designated and 6th in Arizona! Celebrate their abundant dark skies with this inaugural festival.


  • Arizona Science Center’s planetarium & family activities

  • Pluto presentation by Director of Lowell Observatory

  • Telescope stargazing with

  • Dark sky arts exhibit for people's choice awards

  • Local photographers & artists

Opening ceremony with Camp Verde Mayor, Charlie German, Yavapai-Apache Tribal Council, student essay, and children's song.

Be On The Lookout For:

  • Camp Verde High School Astronomy Club presentations

  • Night sky photography with Rim Country Camera Club

  • Stargazing with binoculars with astronomy teacher

  • Films: Lost in Light, Meteor Crater, and more

  • Lectures: Astrobiology and more

  • Udderly Divine: homemade pies, chili, soup, and hot dogs, popcorn, nachos.
