Newest Small Wonders Maps Debut at Tucson Gem Shows

small wonders 16 tucson COVER Local First Arizona has released Tucson Volume 4 of our popular Small Wonders Maps just in time to welcome the tens of thousands of visitors headed this way for the Tucson Gem, Mineral & Fossil Showcase. In just a few days Tucson will be taken over by what is often called the “world’s biggest treasure hunt.” The showcase is not just one exhibition, but a collection of over 45 shows across the city bringing in over 50,000 visitors and thousands of exhibitors showcasing everything from jewels to fossils.  The showcase officially takes over the Tucson area from Jan. 30 to Feb. 14. Thanks to a partnership with the City of Tucson and Visit Tucson, Tucson Small Wonders maps will be distributed at the Visit Tucson Welcome Tables at Tucson International Airport, TCC and other welcome stations to guide guests to many of Tucson’s favorite locally owned businesses.  The maps highlight over 50 locally owned businesses in the downtown Tucson, Mercado San Agustin, 4th Avenue shopping district and University of Arizona areas.

“When visitors come to Tucson, we want to make sure they’re exposed to what’s unique and interesting about our community, so having a resource like the Small Wonders map is a great cheat sheet to direct gem show attendees to those spots,” says Dan Gibson, Director of Corporate Communications for Visit Tucson. Visit Tucson also wants to make sure that our local businesses are ready and able to welcome guests and are happy to provide local merchants with Official Gem Guides, a welcome sign and lapel pin. Visit Tucson even encourages local businesses to take photos of your team wearing the pins to tweet to @TucsonGems. One lucky staffer will win lunch for two at Maynard’s Market and a special Gem Show gift!
