Free Arts for Abused Children Present Cinderella

Local nonprofits develop a sense of community and enrichment in people's lives through the arts, educations, human services, and many other categories. Nonprofit organizations are essential to our quality of life not only because of the valuable programs they provide local citizens, but also because of the positive economic impact within our local communities. In Arizona, there are 20,000+ nonprofits organizations employing 120,000+ individuals and supporting countless more through their services. FRee Arts

One of Arizona's local nonprofits is Free Arts for Abused Children of Arizona (Free Arts). Free Arts is committed to healing abused and homeless children through artistic expression. They teach and creatively inspire children and teenagers in over 100 group homes, treatment centers and shelters in Maricopa County.

Since 1993, Free Arts has provided mentorship and expressive arts programs to children who live in Maricopa County emergency shelters and foster care group homes. Free Arts develops and structures programs to provide a safe space for children to experience healing through artistic expression. Together with community, its leaders, local sponsors and the dedicated volunteers, Free Arts programs continue to be the premiere source for the healing effects of art on children.

Free Arts is proud to announce, and Local First Arizona is proud to share, a unique event that will bring 22 children between the ages of 8 and 18 from local foster care group homes and shelters together to present a Storybook Ballet Cinderella Dance Performance on Saturday.

When: September 26th at 2:30pm at the Where: Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts 7380 East 2nd Street, Scottsdale, AZ 85251. RSVP: Reserve seats at or by calling 602-258-8100 This event is free to the public!

Witness what healing through art looks like for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or homelessness. To celebrate after the performance, attendees will enjoy an interactive dessert reception, art activities, steel drumming and face painting.

Partnered with Dance Theater West, the participating children learn about choreography, basic ballet, modern and improvisation techniques from professional artists. This live performance is based on the classic fairy-tale, Cinderella, whose character suffers loss, but with courage, dreams and a kind heart finds happiness. The performance allows for a happy ending for these vulnerable children.

This is a great opportunity to support a local Arizona non-profit that in turn supports children by providing a creative outlet and education.
