Go Local Guide to Graduation
This post was guest written by LFA Intern, Alexis Sherman. Spring graduation at the University of Arizona is fast approaching! Graduation is an exciting time for students and their families. This is a once in a lifetime celebration and choosing unique local businesses is a way to make it special. The student community is a vital part of Tucson and commencement is a great time for Tucson to show their love and support for the University of Arizona and its newest graduates!
Graduation convocations will take place beginning on Thursday, May 14th and will continue on until Saturday, May 16th. The University wide convocation will take place on Saturday, May 16th at 7:30 pm in the Arizona Stadium. Each college has their own graduation time and place, and as such each student has different preferences in terms of celebrating for graduation. To make planning for graduation easier, the University of Arizona hosts GradFest March 24th- 26th. It’s a one-stop shopping experience for outgoing seniors to stock up on all of their graduation needs.
Contact the University of Arizona, to learn more about how to be involved in Grad Fest.
When students choose local options for graduation celebrations, up to four times more money stays in the local economy to support local jobs, safety, schools, and vibrant communities. There are lots of great ways to go local for graduation!
Go local for graduation brunches, lunches, and dinners!

There are great local options to be found in every corner of Tucson, from Poppy Kitchen in the scenic Catalina Foothills to downtown brunch The Hotel Congress named by Men’s Journal as one of the country’s Top 10 brunches. There are lots of great local restaurants and caterers who can provide decadent dishes or entire meals. Show off the friends and family what makes Tucson special by going with a great local option. You can find plenty of them here.

Students, you know you want those beautiful graduation photos taken on campus so that you can show them off to friends and family. It’s also a great time to get those professional photos taken for your LinkedIn account and to have great photos to remember all that you achieved at the University of Arizona. Great local photographers like Michael Moriarty Photography and Social Media, Julie DeMarre Photography, Ivory Orchid Photography and others.
