Maynards Market & Kitchen Introduces First Edition Private Label Wine

Maynards Market & Kitchen announces their first private label locally-crafted wine. Grown and produced in the great state of Arizona, Maynards continues their practice of sourcing local products and what better way to live that philosophy than bottling their very own wine. The Zinfandel blend, coined AZ RED, was the perfect collaboration by the downtown icon and Sand-Reckoner Vineyards. Wine enthusiasts can enjoy the wine as it’s already available to purchase by the bottle and the glass at Maynards Market & Kitchen and the Hotel Congress.
Located in Cochise County at the base of the Dragoon Mountains, Golden Rule Vineyards was the source for the red blend. Noted for its big, jammy, dark fruit flavors, its medium body with firm tannins and a black pepper finish, the 63% Zinfandel and 37% Petite Sirah blend is aged in neutral French oak barrels for fourteen months. The creation of AZ RED is a proud moment for Maynards, making their pursuit of an exceptional locally-sourced, locally-produced blend that everyone can appreciate well worth the effort.

There was no question as to working with Sand-Reckoner, recently showcased on the Today Show, and Golden Rule Vineyards. Sand-Reckoner has been Wine Spectator-recognized, recommended by the San Francisco Chronicle, and received numerous other awards. Their relationship with Golden Rule Vineyards was only natural as Golden Rule ranked in the Gold, Silver, and Bronze categories in the 2014 Arizona Republic Wine Competition. Only a short drive from Tucson is Golden Rule Vineyards. Starting their first vine in 2007 paid off for this local winery as they were recently awarded First Place for their 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, Third Place for their 2012 Syrah, Second Place for their 2013 Sangiovese, Best Zinfandel, and Second Place for Best Rhone-Style Blend at the 2014 Arizona Republic Wine Competition.
Maynards Market & Kitchen and The Hotel Congress kicks off the celebration with an $18 a bottle retail special with an additional 25% discount on case purchases for the month of February only. If you like to try it before you buy it, guests can purchase it by the glass at the bar in Maynards Market, Maynards Kitchen, and The Cup Café. This monumental achievement further reinforces Maynards leading the charge in keeping it local by supporting their local community including their membership as a Sustaining Member to Local First Arizona, the largest coalition of small businesses in the nation.
