Prescott's Hassayampa Inn Takes You on a Trip to the Romantic Southwest
If you’ve ever been to Prescott, you know that the cozy downtown square is a hub for southwestern charm. With its saloons and vintage hat stores, the town has a way of transporting visitors to the more ruggedly romantic time of the Wild West. The cornerstone of downtown Prescott is the Hassayampa Inn, a stunning red-brick building that has been serving the community since it was completed in 1927. In fact, hundreds of Prescott residents bought shares in the project when it began in the 1920s. They enlisted the help of El Paso architect Henry Trost to create a community space where people could come to relax and escape the daily grind. The inn’s historic features have been masterfully retained and restored over the last decades. Today, the interior is a marvel of stained-glass doors and artful murals. Stepping inside the Hassayampa Inn is akin to stepping into a time machine and landing smack-dab in the middle of the Roaring Twenties.
Which isn’t to say that the amenities are anything but comfortable. True to its southwestern charm, the guest rooms are warm and inviting. Furnished with real wood and a deep color palette, these accommodations are the perfect blend between modern and antique. All rooms are equipped with pillow-top beds, flat-screen televisions, wireless internet, suite style bathrooms, and a plethora of other top-notch luxuries that travelers have come to expect.
“The best features of this Prescott gem are its location, excellent customer service, well appointed rooms and historical significance.”

Guests are also welcomed at the Peacock Dining Room, an art-deco inspired restaurant with a reputation for delicious food and reasonable prices. The Peacock Dining Room is open from 7.00 AM to 9.00 PM, and is also open to the public during this time. Live musicians play in the adjacent bar Wednesday through Saturday. Ornately carved wood ceilings and warm, historic detailing make this area incredibly romantic. It is the perfect place to sip a cocktail, and happy hour deals are available weekdays from 4.30 PM to 6.00 PM.
If you’re looking to carry that romantic atmosphere throughout your visit, the Hassayampa Inn offers a Romance Package, which includes roses, champagne, and chocolate covered strawberries upon arrival from $285.00. If a romantic getaway isn’t in the cards, the inn also offers several packages for adventure seekers, which you can read about here.
The inn’s central location in downtown Prescott means that guests can take advantage of activities all year round. Courthouse Square is the town’s central gathering spot for concerts, festivals, fairs. Passerby are also likely to find themselves engaged in a pick-up game of Frisbee or roped into a life-size chess game (as I did when I was walking through town last summer). Great fishing, hiking, and luxury golf courses are also within a stone’s throw of the Hassayampa Inn.
