Devoured Culinary Classic Returns to Phoenix Art Museum with Expanded Lineup of Restaurants, Pre-Events

DevouredA newly expanded Devoured week has been announced for March 1 - 8, 2015. This year’s events bring together Arizona’s top chefs, restaurants, winemakers, mixologists, local growers and specialty food producers that will be serving up unique dishes and libations representing all areas of Arizona’s culinary scene. Showcasing the best and brightest, the Devoured Culinary Classic will demonstrate the most inspired chefs and local restaurants for four days of local culinary, wine and libations events.

The 2015 festival is shaping up to be quite an exciting showcase of local culinary, wine and spirits talent,” said Kimber Lanning, founder of Local First Arizona and the Devoured Culinary Classic. “In the past three years, we’ve experienced unprecedented growth and sold out events, so we have decided to expand the Devoured programming to further showcase the best of Arizona’s culinary scene.”

Having been named “Best Dining Festival” in 2014 and “Best Food Event” in 2012 by AZ Central as well as “Best Culinary Festival” in 2012 by the Phoenix New Times, the Devoured Culinary Classic has earned the title of Arizona’s premier culinary event.

Brat Haus“We bring only the highest caliber of chefs and restaurants to Devoured; you won’t experience this much culinary talent in one space anywhere else in Arizona,” said Kimber Lanning, founder of Local First Arizona and the Devoured Culinary Classic. “What is different now than when we started this event six years ago is that the number of quality restaurants that call Arizona home today has skyrocketed. We truly live in a great culinary state.”

Additionally, the Devoured VIP experience has been expanded to feature more exclusive tastings from local celebrity chefs. On Saturday, March 7, Chef Kevin Binkly of Binkley’s Restaurant, Cafe Bink, Bink’s Midtown, and Bink’s Scottsdale will be showing off his culinary talent exclusively for VIP guests. On Sunday, March 8, Chef Gregory LaPrad, formerly of Quiessence and currently at Overland Trout in Sonoita, Arizona, will prepare delicious fare to be paired with Arizona wines from the Sonoita region. VIP ticket holders will also have exclusive access to the general tasting area a full hour before General Admission ticket holders.

ChefWhile the Devoured Culinary Classic is a truly indulgent event, Lanning explains that the emergence of Devoured as the premier culinary event of the year is not only beneficial to the local restaurant scene but has widespread economic benefits. “This event has helped create local pride for both Phoenix and Arizona, contributing to the growth of Phoenix’s culinary reputation,” said Lanning. “This positively impacts both tourism and local investment in new restaurants and businesses to serve those restaurants. That all translates to economic development and local job creation.”

The Devoured Culinary Classic is presented by Local First Arizona, Phoenix Art Museum, and the Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance. Proceeds from Devoured will benefit these three nonprofit organizations.

Participating restaurants for Saturday and Sunday can be viewed on the Devoured Culinary Classic website. For Saturday’s restaurants, click here. For Sunday’s restaurants, click here. The website will be updated as participants are confirmed.
