Garland's Indian Gardens & Oak Creek Market Has Served Sedona Since 1940s
This is a northern Arizona member spotlight for Garland's Indian Gardens Oak Creek Market in Sedona The Garland family has been in the Sedona area for generations and their mark on the area has been significant and long-lasting. As founders of several businesses in the area, one of the most notable is Indian Gardens Oak Creek Market. Originally built in the 1940s to serve as a general store and gas station for Oak Creek Canyon, Indian Gardens Oak Creek Market is now a destination for locals and visitors alike looking for affordable, quality dining in a casual and beautiful atmosphere.
Indian Gardens sets the standard in Sedona, and region wide, for unique and delicious deli offerings, including a great breakfast and an inventive sandwich menu, fresh-baked local pastries, local beer and wine, and locally-roasted coffee served by trained baristas. The market also serves the hiking and camping enthusiasts who travel through Oak Creek Canyon year-round with snacks for the trail and campout essentials, and the entire Sedona community with local produce and a unique grocery selection.
On Saturdays throughout the year you can catch live music by talented local musicians, and enjoy the shaded beautiful back patio while you have breakfast or lunch. Indian Gardens is also well-known for carrying seasonal local produce and other local products, such as local wine, beer, snacks and other goods. They make a point in partnering with other local Arizona businesses in all aspects of their business.
Recently the Garlands have taken further steps to support the local Sedona and Oak Creek Community. The devastation of the Oak Creek Canyon Slide Fire was a tragedy for all, however the impact is really being felt by the small, local businesses and their employees. Due to the road, forest and business closures, many people have been and will be out of work for weeks to come.
To help with this, Indian Gardens partnered with Grand Canyon Winery to host a Local Table Wine Dinner on the even of Page Springs Cellars' Tilted Earth Festival in late June. This collaborative wine dinner raised funds help the local community survive and get through this trying time. All proceeds and donations were donated directly to the Slide Fire Relief Fund aimed towards the local Oak Creek Canyon community.
The dinner featured fare from local farms, ranches, and businesses, who donated towards the cause. They raffled off prizes to local businesses, including resort packages, gift certificates, wine baskets, and more. The community support for this event was amazing.
Guests enjoyed an evening under the stars in beautiful Oak Creek Canyon. Grand Canyon Winery featured five wines carefully paired with a five course meal of locally sourced & foraged ingredients from nearby organic farms and ranches prepared by chef Cameron Gray. All courses will be served on locally handmade dinnerware by artist Jeffrey May of Jeffrey Ryan May Pottery. This garden dinner featured the sweet sweet tunes of Flagstaff's one and only Teddy's Bullet.
While the Local Table Dinner specifically supported Slide Fire relief efforts, Indian Gardens hosts different events throughout the year. Around Valentine's Day, they host a chocolate pairing dinner and they host other events around holidays as well. The best way to stay in touch with these activities is by following them on Facebook.
The store and cafe are open daily from 8am to 6pm and you can visit the website anytime at www.oakcreekmarket.com.
