Southern AZ June Mixer Recap: Vero Amore
This post is guest written by LFA Intern, Matt Poulton.
This month’s Local First Arizona (LFA) member mixer was held at Tucson’s original home for authentic Neapolitan pizza – Vero Amore. Located at their new location on the Southwest corner of Fort Lowell and Swan, the restaurant has become a beacon of Italian culinary excellence. Winner of a Tucson Lifestyle Culinary Award, the restaurant offers both lunch and dinner dining experiences, and has a wide variety of amazing Italian dishes, from their famous pizza such as the Pizza Bianca al Prosciutto, to their incredibly delicious (trust me) Meatballs Parmesan. Vero Amore is a restaurant that has reinvented what it means to be an Italian restaurant.
The weather was hot, but the energy was high as the evening kicked off in full swing. Over sixty local businesses were in attendance to support the Local First Arizona vision for a stronger economy and closer community.
Executive Director and Founder of Local First Arizona Kimber Lanning delivered an inspiring speech, prompting continuous nods of approval and bellowing final applause. She discussed why supporting local businesses is so crucial to our state’s economy and future. Kimber also mentioned upcoming events such as:
Independents Week (June 29th – July 6th): Throughout the week, we encourage you to support as many local businesses as possible, while simultaneously building awareness of the many different, locally owned businesses in Arizona! Businesses can also participate in Indie Week by accepting the Golden Coupon discount, which allows consumers to receive a discount of 20% on select products and services over the duration of the week. Simply fill out this form to sign up to accept the Golden Coupon and be listed on the Independents Week website.
Passport to Local Success (June 28th 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in downtown Tucson): A shopping crawl with Mayor Rothschild! Come down to the vibrant street of 4th Avenue and obtain a “shopping passport”, enjoy live music and food and drink specials.
Community Collaboration Webinar (June 24th 10:00 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.): The goal of this webinar is to educate members about how community involvement and effective collaboration can increase economic development. We aim to analyze what it actually takes to build a strong local economy and community by supporting local businesses. Four inspiring experts in the field of business and community development will be presenting.
Please join us at our next mixer July 2nd at Alfonso’s Olive Oil from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. RSVP here.
Again, thank you to everyone who was in attendance!
