Dreams of Stone
Today’s Local First Arizona member spotlight is on Striking Stone: One of the joys of being part of Local First Arizona is hearing the stories of what compelled individuals to make the switch from corporate America to living the small business dream. One in particular, Striking Stone owner, Oakley Rolwing, dove into his love of working with stone, retreating from an outsourced world as an IT server tech. Rolwing made the decision to carve and etch stone as a full time gig - turning ordinary stones into beautiful pieces that could be used as business signs, memorials, fundraiser bricks, garden stones, and personalized gifts. The love of his craft can be seen throughout the Valley at both commercial and residential areas, including the Phoenix Zoo. Earlier this month, thecompany announced it had moved into a larger industrial studio to accommodate their growth. Additionally, it allows the studio to work with larger stones, showcase their art form to clients and have the space that lets clients watch their art piece come to life on stone. Check out Striking Stone's new location and let them woo you with the customizable etchings and carvings that can be made in stone just for you.
