Whether via teardowns, fires, or lot assemblies, the Valley's vacant lots are unmistakable. Without investment capital or a viable plan for development, these lots end up unused for years on end, often hurting the value and safety of nearby residents and business owners. But thanks to an array of nonprofits, City officials, and thoughtful developers, that default has begun to change thanks to projects like Valley of the Sunflowers, A.R.T.S. Market, PHX Renews, and Agave Farms. Part of Phoenix Urban Design Week and ASU Sustainability Solutions Festival, For(u)m gathers a developer, planning and development director, a consultant, and a farmer to discuss how these projects came to fruition, and how future temporary uses can flourish.
