Jane's Walk - Inspire a Better Downtown Phoenix

  • Portland & 2nd Ave Phoenix, Arizona (map)

Learning from Jane Jacobs to Inspire a Better Downtown Phoenix.

We walk our cities to honor and activate the ideas of Jane Jacobs, one of America's most famed urbanists. Jane’s Walk is a community-based approach to city building that uses citizen-led walking tours to make space for people to observe, reflect, share, question and re-imagine the places in which they live, work and play.

This year, Local First Arizona's For(u)m program is teaming up with the Urban Phoenix Project to lead our 8th annual "Jane's Walk: Phoenix". We will be getting back to the basics, discussing Jane's four Generators of Diversity and her concept of Sidewalk Ballet as we stroll down 2nd Avenue from the Roosevelt Neighborhood to the Downtown Core.

This event is free and open to everyone! Meet at the roundabout at Portland & 2nd Ave to start the walk. The walk will end at a local watering hole to give us an opportunity to continue the conversation.
