The Art of Business: The FOUND:RE Business Mixer

This post was written by Jocelyn Manjarrez LFA Intern

Whoever said you can't mix business and pleasure obviously didn't attend this week's business mixer! We hung out poolside at the art-filled, adaptively reused, boutique hotel in downtown Phoenix, The FOUND:RE. Not only is the FOUND:RE located close to all of Phoenix's best attractions but the FOUND:RE is an attraction of its own with all of the local artwork that is up for display throughout the entire hotel. Whether you're from out of town or doing a staycation, the FOUND:RE is anything but your typical run-of-the-mill hotel experience.

We started the evening off with an informative Member 101 session lead by Thomas Barr, Local First's Director of Member Engagement and Operations. These sessions are helpful for those wanting to learn how to leverage their membership and make it work for them. Afterwards we gathered poolside and enjoyed some locally crafted wines and beers while networking and making new friends.

Parley Stock, The FOUND:RE's Director of Sales and Marketing spoke to us about how the FOUND:RE came to life and what makes this space such an incredible addition to the Phoenix Art and Hospitality scene.

Later Connor Descheemaker, Local First Community Planning Coordinator, addressed the importance of these adaptive reuse projects and Local First's For(u)m initiative. To this end, Descheemaker discussed "closing the circle" of localized development--supporting its partnership with both the operators of FOUND:Re, and its developers, Habitat Metro, who have completed a number of these infill and reuse projects around greater downtown Phoenix.

Thank you to those who were in attendance and to our sustaining members! A big thank you to everyone at The FOUND:RE Hotel for graciously allowing us to enjoy the creative ambiance that this hotel provides.

Make sure to join us next month for our next Business Luncheon:
