This post is a Press Release, written by Donna Chesler and the Jerome Chamber of Commerce.
The Jerome Chamber of Commerce is preparing to host its yearly exploration of the back streets of this historic mining town with the 52nd Annual Home and Building Tour. Save the dates for this spectacular home and building tour through one of Arizona's most relevant mining communities turned art hub. May 20th and 21st, 2017 join others for a look at some never before shown historic structures in this mile-high town.
Visitors may have wondered about the large building on Hill Street on the way up to the Grand Hotel. The owners of the Clubhouse will open their doors for a preview of this amazing structure. Originally a hospital, in 1928 the mining company decided to create a clubhouse for employees and residents of Jerome and Clarkdale. The building includes a library, ballroom, meeting rooms, kitchen, ladies lounge and a cloakroom. About to be renovated into beautiful condos, those on the tour will have the opportunity to see the space before its transformation. Six more homes are also on the tour including a charming small house on The Boardwalk.
Park out at the 300 level and a convenient bus will bring you to the tours starting location and to ticket sales at Spook Hall on Hull Avenue. The same as last year, adults tour for $20 and children 3 and up for $10. Free for children under 3. Be prepared for lots of steps (not handicapped accessible). Wear comfortable shoes and prepare for an adventure of a lifetime. Three of the venues by the Clubhouse are close enough to walk from one to the next. Then board a van to be driven to a home down in The Gulch. Return to the van, for a drive to the North/Dundee area for a look at 3 more homes, all filled with historic charm and attention to detail.
