This year’s SAVOR Southern Arizona Food and Wine Festival is excited to be featuring tastes from Gourmet Girls Gluten Free Bakery & Bistro. The Gourmet Girls take pride in contributing to the festival’s fundraising efforts which benefit SAACA - Southern Arizona Arts and Cultural Alliance, Local First Arizona and the Tucson Botanical Gardens. When local businesses give back, the money raised recirculates into the community, and does wonders for Southern Arizona. Co-owner Susan Fulton is especially excited to be showing off some new creations. “We look forward to showing off fresh savory treats to all our guests and wowing them with how good gluten free can be,” comments Fulton.
The idea of starting a gluten free bakery started when the owners were catering for a gluten free customer. They quickly realized that the quality of the products at that time were disappointing. So they took it upon themselves to create and invent delicious gluten free baked goods. After years of selling their creations at the Heirloom Farmers Markets, and finding a high demand for their products they decided to open a retail location in 2011. The Gourmet Girls have been going strong since. The greatest thing about their restaurant is that you don’t have to be gluten free to enjoy all their fantastic dishes! With a menu that features everything from Double Check Ranch grass fed burgers to double decker grilled cheese on carrot sunflower bread you’ll want to double down on visits to Gourmet Girls. Their Mimosas and Bloody Marys paired with cinnamon roll French toast or eggs benedict make this the perfect brunch spot as well.
Gourmet Girls Gluten Free Bakery and Bistros has really added to the to the restaurant scene in Tucson by promoting a gluten free life style, and encouraging the community to consume fresh, local ingredients on a daily basis. The owners believe that Tucson’s City of Gastronomy designation has helped educate the community and increased awareness on what people are consuming and how it impacts their health long term. Loving the spirit of community between all the independent business owners, Fulton comments “I believe this is a rare experience and is particularly part of the nature of Tucson. It is an honor to be part of the scene.” The Tucson community believes in helping one another excel and flourish.
Don’t miss out on this year’s SAVOR event and the awesome treats Gourmet Girls will be serving along with several other restaurants, breweries and wineries! Tickets are selling quick so visit the website to purchase tickets.
