Flagstaff Brewing Scene Leads to Job Creation

Here at Local First Arizona, we often talk about how supporting locally owned businesses keeps more money in our economy and creates jobs. We mention how for every two jobs that big box stores create, three are lost from local business. This can sound theoretical and far away. For those who would like to put a face to successful job creation, this story is just for you. Adam Harrington is a walking embodiment of small industry begetting new opportunities, and ones that benefit the entire community.

Adam Harrington of High Altitude Home Brew.

A Tucson native, Adam came up to Flagstaff to study science at Northern Arizona University and did not want to leave. In 2010 he began brewing beer at home and then went on to learn from the best at Mother Road Brewing. Over the next four years he performed every job related to brewing at Mother Road, eventually becoming Lead Brewer. Adam brought curiosity and innovation to the position until a back injury got in his way.  As an out-of-the-box thinker who loves reading about history, science, and brewing, Adam was determined to find another way to stay involved in the craft that he loves so much.

Adam had experimented with recipes from the home brew level all the way up to the large vats used at Mother Road and had confidence in his ability to understand the processes. So now he is running High Altitude Home Brew Supply. He is very excited to be able to offer his knowledge and materials to the Flagstaff community. He is an active member of the Mountain Top Mashers, Flagstaff's home brewing group.
