Case Studies & Cocktails, Hotel Congress, April 20th, 5:30 – 7:30 p.m.  This fun event introduces everyone from building owners to students to the work that the Tucson Emerging 2030 District team is doing, and how you can participate to make Tucson a sustainable leader in the state. Tours of the Hotel Congress will be given, where you can learn how this iconic hotel is improving energy efficiency and sustainable design. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served. - MORE


Bat Day at Kartchner Caverns State Park, April 22nd Head to Kartchner Caverns State Park on Earth Day to enjoy the annual celebration of their most well-known seasonal residents. Enjoy family friendly activities and celebrate the bats. - MORE


Bird Walk at Dankworth Pond at Roper Lake State Park April 22nd, 8am  Enjoy a brisk walk through Roper Lake's sister park, Dankworth Pond, learning about native and seasonal birds. Volunteer Jeff Coker  shares his 18 years of birding experience, as he has done for other bird tours on behalf of the Audubon Society and the Elderhostel program. Participants should meet at the bulletin board and wear comfortable walking shoes, binoculars, and a bird book if you have one. Regular park admission applies. - MORE

Earth Day Celebration with The Lorax, Bookmans Midtown, April 22nd 11:00am-12:00pm  Celebrate our beautiful blue planet with a Lorax themed party! With the help of our very favorite entertainer, Silly Tassie, we’ll have face painting, crafts, games, prizes and the chance to plant your very own seeds. Localist Essence of Wellness at the Arboretum, Sunday, April 23, 2017, 10:00am-12:00pm As we enter spring, Localists are invited to a specially-curated wellness workshop to connect with nature and "treat yourself" to aromatherapeutic pampering. After an educational stroll through the Arboretum at Flagstaff, participants will make a healing body balm with desert jojoba, beeswax and coconut oil paired with lemongrass essential oil that is perfect for the transition into summer. After this workshop lead by Jes Zaneis of Soul Care by CCC, attendees will indulge in a local honey-sweetened kombucha tasting, before heading home. MORE

Star Party at Homolovi State Park April 22nd, 30 minutes after sunset Imagine what you can see in the sky at Homolovi State Park. The sky promises spectacular views of ghostly nebulae, star clusters, the moon's cratered landscapes, and Venus' crescent phases. Bring a chair, red illumination flashlight, refreshments, and bug repellent. Picnic facilities and grills are available at the Homolovi State Park Visitor Center. Family Campout at River Island State Park April 22-23 Arizona Family Campout Program weekends are designed for families that have little or no experience camping. You’ll be introduced to the great experiences you can share with your family and inspire you to continue to explore the great outdoors. Petroglyph Tour at Homolovi State Park April 22nd 9am Join a Park Ranger for a tour of Homolovi's petroglyph sites. This will require participants to have their own vehicle. Please be prepared for weather and bring plenty of water as the tour will last approximately 3 hours. There will be approximately 1.5 miles of walking on uneven terrain.
