The concept of Peanut Butter Americano, a local business specializing in nut butters, took root during a trip to Uruguay on a college project to construct housing for the poor. Jeff Malkoon, a third-generation Phoenician and ASU alum, started the company in 2013 with a mission to create delicious, nutritious, and socially conscious nut butters. The end result is a locally made and decadently delicious range of nut butters, ranging from classic peanut and almond butter to butters with infused with goodness. Other flavors include: cinnamon honey, white chocolate, dark chocolate, and cinnamon roasted almond. 100% of the proceeds from its dark chocolate peanut butter sales go directly to the Fund for the Americas initiative to support relief work across the Western Hemisphere. The company also works closely with A Roof for My Country to carry out development projects like emergency housing construction and job training programs in 19 countries across the Americas.
Armed with its good cause and attributes, Peanut Butter Americano’s nut butters are clean, simple, and taste great. The butters are free of preservatives and stabilizers but also bring to lively the old standard peanut butter fare. The flavored butters add an extra oomph to normal PB&J.
