Join the Arizona Battle of the Buildings

Battle of the Buildings Bootcamp 2016Water and energy use are likely two of the most significant environmental factors that Arizona business will face in coming years. Learn how your building can become more efficient in a  90 day bootcamp-style competition where buildings nationwide compete to reduce energy and water use.

The Battle is the first competition of its kind in Arizona and is based on the national 2016 ENERGY STAR National Building competition. Building owners will compete in both the local and national competitions, with awards being given in two categories, those that have the greatest energy use reduction per square foot and those that have the greatest water use reduction per square foot. It's easy and fun to get involved.

Competition will be among buildings in Arizona and across the country.  Register today! Benchmark: Competitors will enter energy and water data into ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager, sharing associated buildings with United States Green Building Council (USGBC) through a USGBC Portfolio Manager account. In order to establish a baseline, competitors will need to enter energy and water data for the 12 months ending August 31, 2016, plus data for the three months of the actual competition. Assistance with benchmarking will be available through the ENERGY STAR bootcamp. Compete: Competitors can make use of ENERGY STAR Bootcamp toolkits that explain easy methods to save energy and water and offer a way to motivate employees, staff, and occupants. The competition period runs 90 days, from September 1st through November 30th, 2016. You will submit data again at the end of the competition for comparison. Celebrate: USGBC Arizona will recognize top achievers within the state in early 2017.

This is a fun opportunity to engage your company, learn more about your businesses water and energy use and potentially receive some local and national recognition.  A workshop on the competition will be held in Tucson to go over the details and help businesses get started.
