Explore Tucson with the Summer in the City discount card

summerinthecitySummer in Tucson is a great time to fall in love with the city all over again. When the temperatures rise, the crowds thin and summer is the perfect time to revisit favorite local spots and discover new ones. The Summer in the City discount card is a great tool to help explore 140 great spots along the streetcar line. The popular discount program was developed by John Jacobs, Chairman of the Downtown Merchants group, in association with local business districts in and around downtown. “The reality is that many people do leave during the summer,” comments Jacobs, “sales can drop by as much as 30%, but for those folks that stick around and continue to support local businesses, we want to say thanks.” The Summer in the City discount cards are good for unlimited use at 140 businesses, potentially providing thousands in discounts. The discount cards are for sale for five dollars each at many of the participating retailers. This discount program is a great companion to the Golden Coupon. While the Golden Coupon is good for 20% off at local business throughout Tucson during Independents Week from June 27th to July 5th, the Summer in the City cards are good for discounts downtown all summer long. Additionally, the first 30 people to come by the Local First AZ table on July 4th at the Mercado for our Independents Week celebration, will receive a free Summer in the City card. Cardholder discounts include great offers like half off entrees at Delectables, ten percent bonuses on gift cards from the Food Conspiracy, fifteen percent off at Transit Cycles, twenty percent off at Arte de la Vida and many, many more. The full list can be viewed online at tucsonsummer.com. The program offers discounts across seven local business districts, University of Arizona, Main Gate Square, 4th Avenue, Downtown Tucson, Mercado San Agustin and the Sunshine Mile.

“It’s a great opportunity to explore local businesses,” comments Jacobs.  The program has also added a new feature this year, the Summer Adventures for Kids program. “For families that want to get to know downtown, this is a great way to do it,” says Jacobs. “You can take kids on a downtown adventure in the heart of Tucson this summer."  downtown-adventure-for-kids-Transporation-Streetcar-Train Go to the website to select and print an adventure map to follow along as you discover Downtown.
