Panoramic sunset views and rooftop cocktails at Playground

playgroundfoodWe had an amazing member mixer in May on the roof of Playground Bar and Lounge. Tucson’s Congress Street continues to thrive with unique locally owned business creating a downtown like no other and the rooftop was the perfect place to take in the view. Playground’s rooftop hosts great events from weddings and private receptions to their popular Trumpets and Tequila brunches on Sundays. Playground put out an amazing spread for our members. While they are well known for their amazing cocktails, Playground also boasts a dinner menu with something for everyone. playgroundcongressviewThere was great news to share about all the success we are seeing in the local movement. Our mixers have been very popular. We know that locally owned businesses create the greatest number of opportunities for other AZ businesses. When our local businesses work together, we keep more money in the community and create more jobs and opportunities where we live. In order to give folks a chance to form more one on one connections with business owners they may not have met, we have introduced our newest event, Local Connections.  A moderated speed networking event, limited to 20 active LFA members only, this is a way to identify opportunities within the LFA network through personal connections. The next Local Connections event is July 8th, with only a few seat remaining. Register now!

playgroundcityviewsWe are also enormously excited about the upcoming BALLE, Business Alliance of Local Living Economies, conference in Phoenix June 10-12th. The conference's eight conversation tracks follow eight solution areas that together pave a path to prosperity, covering working models that increase economic inclusion, build community wealth, change what ownership looks like, and more. These are the most innovative and important conversations happening in the local economy movement right now – led by the brightest lights in their respective fields. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity to catch some of the most amazing thinkers in the localism movement only 90 miles away!

Our next mixer will be June 3rd at Gentle Ben’s at Main Gate Square. We will be talking about the upcoming Independents Week campaign and sharing information about how members can make the most of it. Come join us for Gentle Ben’s famous brews as well as a chance to win tickets to upcoming UA Presents shows.

Thank you to all who attended in May!
