Fuerza Local is thrilled to welcome the fourth class of entrepreneurs in the Business Accelerator Program!
This six month class is designed to teach Spanish speaking business owners the critical fundamentals for owning and operating a successful business. Through this program twelve entrepreneurs will be attending 12 classes about topics such as business planning, business liabilities, marketing, business structure, philanthropy, and branding.
"As a young entrepreneur the Fuerza Local Accelerator is providing me with the confidence needed to believe that I can successfully operate and run my own business." -Brandon Ornelas, Breezy Pop and current program participant.
Students are taught about the importance of financial management by participating in an eMoneyPool, an online tool that harnesses the power of group cooperation to help members of that group save for their goals. At the end of the program, each student has saved $1,000 through the eMoneyPool, which is then matched by a scholarship from Fuerza Local. Each student also opens a line of credit at Arizona-based MariSol Federal Credit Union.
The goal of the Accelerator Program is to educate business owners so they can elevate themselves and their communities. Carlos Velasco, Director of Fuerza Local said, “People cannot really get out of poverty unless they begin to elevate the prosperity in their neighborhoods, and a lot of it comes from the small-business base, by helping these businesses learn to thrive through simple changes and improvements in their practices, we are empowering these businesses to support themselves and their families, and build a stronger community.”
Through this program, Fuerza Local hopes to empower all participants who in turn will empower their communities. By learning these important skills and gaining access to new capital, these business owners are better able to successfully manage and expand their businesses. This brings greater wealth and opportunity to themselves and their communities, as they contribute to the local economy by hiring locals and using local business services.
