Vegan, owner and artisan might seem like three independent concepts, but for Tracy Perkins it’s how she does business. For the last ten years, Tracy has built a loyal following of die-hard ‘soapies’ who just can’t get enough of her vegan body products.
With online sales on the rise, not to mention product being sold in fifteen physical stores, Tracy decided it was time to “take the leap” and moved her soap factory from Mariposa Longhouse in Central Phoenix to a larger spot on 15th Avenue and Indian School. In addition to more production space, all of us die-hard “soapies” can now buy our products straight from Tracy Wednesday - Sunday (3-7P) in her new storefront located just inside!
And to think it all started out of frustration over a decade ago.
“Strawberry Hedgehog began when I, as a vegan college student, was having difficulty finding, let alone affording, quality vegan body products, “ remembers Tracy, “I was frustrated with misleading packaging [and] started making goodies for myself, friends and family.”
Since officially launching in 2003, Tracy has expanded her product line to include over 10 different soap varieties, body products, and even beard oil, for the manly environmentalist. Most recently, fans voted Strawberry Hedgehog as 2014’s Best Soap of the Valley, so it doesn’t look like things are slowing down for Tracy, but we get the feeling she wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Strawberry Hedgehog is a labor of love. I adore what I do creating fabulous products with amazing ingredients! I love the creativity involved and the flexibility to change and improve.” This Thursday, check out why folks can't seem to get enough Strawberry Hedgehog. RSVP using the link below.
*In addition to toasting Tracy on her grand success, we'll be unveiling the newest addition to the soap factory: an exclusive Strawberry Hedgehog mural created by friend and artist, Stacey Newlon. Follow the progress on Facebook: February GYP
