Southern Arizona Mixer Recap: Taking in the view at Poppy Kitchen

16399330035_cb1a9a2498_zWe had a great mixer in January! We saw over 75 folks come out to take in the beautiful desert views, catch up on the local movement and connect with one another out at Poppy Kitchen.  Poppy Kitchen is a destination restaurant nestled in the scenic Catalina Foothills. Many folks don’t realized that this lovely venue on the grounds of the Westin La Paloma Resort and Spa is actually part of locally owned Metzger Family Restaurants. Owner Brian Metzger loves interacting with the resort’s out of town visitors, but he wants to make sure that locals know that they are always welcome. To show his appreciation of his fellow Tucsonans, Metzger has introduced Poppy’s Local20 program. This amazing programs gives a 20% discount to any patron who comes in and shows an ID with a Tucson address. Way to show love for the locals! There was so much to catch up on as the local movements continues to grow - We couldn’t be more excited about our upcoming SAVOR Food + Wine Festival at the Tucson Botanical Gardens on Saturday, February 7th. This foodie festival features unlimited sampling from almost 40 restaurants, winemakers and brewers. Local First Arizona is thrilled to have an even greater focus on localism and sustainability this year. SAVOR will also feature chef demos on the Edible Baja Arizona demo stage, on site composting with Scraps on Scraps and a miniature farmers market from Heirloom Farmers Market. This is a don’t miss event, but be sure to get your tickets before they sell out! Our next mixer is downtown at GIO Taco on February 4th. Please be sure and RSVP here. We look forward to seeing everybody!
