SAVOR returns with VIP lounge, focus on sustainability

Tucson’s culinary prestige and slow food movement has been growing each year, and now is the time to SAVOR. Indulge in the flavors of Southern Arizona’s culinary arts during the second annual SAVOR Southern Arizona Food and Wine Festival surrounded by the colorful floral blooms of the Tucson Botanical Gardens.

Featuring over 30 of the region's finest chefs and local restaurants highlighting exceptional menu tastings, this foodie festival showcases the diversity of Southern Arizona's tasty talents and conscious cooking.  The festival includes local favorites like North Italia, Cafe Roka, Pastiche, Poppy Kitchen , Gourmet Girls , Vero Amore and several others.  Along with unlimited restaurant samplings, attendees will enjoy fine wine, spirits and craft beer tastings from many of Arizona's finest.


Check out the newest local brewer on the downtown block, Pueblo Vida, as well as longtime favorite Borderlands.  Attendees will have the chance to partake in innovative culinary demonstrations, meet top chefs and restaurateurs, as well as taste an array of culinary excellence from the region’s best chefs, restaurants, local food artisans, brewers and vintners.

New this year to the SAVOR Food & Wine Festival is the Westar / Edible Baja Culinary Stage. This area will feature a Westar kitchen set-up for live chef demonstrations during the event.  Theater style seating will be set up for event-goers to get in on the action of the live demonstrations.  Televisions will be set up as well, projecting the demonstration for everyone to see. Edible Baja Associate Publisher Jared McKinley will be moderating the culinary stage bringing his unique take on the great local flavors of the Southwest.

Also new this year is an increased focus on sustainability. Scraps on Scraps, a residential and commercial food waste collection service will be saving compostable waste from the event. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that 20-30% of all waste that ends up in the landfill is actually compostable. Scraps on Scraps turns the food waste into compost which is then used by the fantastic people at the Community Food Bank's Las Milpitas Farm!


This year's event also introduces a special VIP element.  VIP tickets are $100 each and include general admission to the event, as well as access to a private VIP lounge with featured Tucson celebrity chef menu tastings, craft cocktail sampling, and a VIP gift bag full of great local goodies. Chefs exclusive to the VIP lounge include Ryan Clark of Agustin Kitchen, Kristine Jensen of Cafe Botanica / Gallery of Food, Kris Vrolijk of Proper, and Danny Scordato of Scordato's Pizzeria.

General admission tickets for Savor are $65 each prior to February 6, 2015 and $75 day of (unless sold out).
