farmchef-91Local First Arizona is a proud planning partner for The 5th Arizona Farmer+Chef Connection!

This one-of-a-kind event will take place on October 6, 2014, from 1-5PM at Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona.

farmchef-196Arizona Farmer+Chef Connection (Farmer+Chef) is an important cornerstone to the local food economy. Simply put: local food partnerships will not occur en masse without a forum to introduce key players working in the industry. Farmer+Chef does just that by bringing together buyers, suppliers and distributors who are prepared to transact at a wholesale level!

Few opportunities like this exist in Arizona’s burgeoning local food industry today. The event is a one-stop shop for food buyers interested in stocking more local products in their places of business. Farmer+Chef will make a massive impact on the Arizona economy by redirecting non-local wholesale food purchases back to Arizona-based sources. By encouraging Arizona food buyers to source locally, we will keep more dollars circulating in the local economy, which will in turn support job growth and the Arizona agriculture industry!

Arizona Farmer+Chef Connection 2014 Features:

farmchef-103Suppliers’ Marketplace: This vendor fair will feature the best Arizona has to offer. Local food producers and artisan food crafters line up with displays of their products, samples, and crop calendars. Come down to learn what is and will be in season, work out procurement schedules and help build the local food economy.

Keynote and Breakout Sessions: farmchef-58This year’s keynote address will invigorate and inspire the crowd and kick off Farmer+Chef.  Breakout Sessions and panels will cover a diverse array of topics important to YOU. With a heavy focus on industry-specific tools, Farmer+Chef breakouts will cater to four key groups: institutional food buyers (such as schools and hospitals), restaurant owners, chefs, and food producers. Participants will walk away from each workshop armed with a new toolkit and prepared for success in the Suppliers’ Marketplace session.

Local Food Reception: farmchef-24For the first time, all members of the local food community are invited to join for part of the day. While Farmer+Chef’s keynote and breakout sessions are industry-specific, and thus restricted for these parties, this year Farmer+Chef will conclude with a Local Food Community Reception open to all members of the local food community. The Reception will feature local foods and great informal networking opportunities with a broad range of food community attendees.

We hope to see you there!
