Earlier this month, Chef Aaron Chamberlin of St. Francis opened his doors to about 30 hungry Localists! St. Francis is a favorite neighborhood restaurant among the locals, known for using fresh, local ingredients in simple and honest dishes. This event was just one of the many amazing behind-the-scenes experiences Localists had the opportunity to attend this month. Here is what one Localist, Jim McCroy, had to say about the experience:
"Aaron Chamberlin of St. Francis and Phoenix Public Market Cafe, was named Chef of the Year by Arizona Culinary Hall of Fame. Awarded to an outstanding chef who continues to distinguish his or her self with innovative, high-quality cuisine, breakthrough menu and outstanding execution.
Aaron shared with a group of Localists how they work with local farmers and and other local businesses. He also gave a history of the readapted building that St. Francis calls home, and other interesting history of his restaurant. He has made St. Francis a neighborhood restaurant like no other: a modern, family-owned establishment that aims to nourish the community with exceptional cuisine in an inspired setting at good value."
In addition to hearing Chef Chamberlin talk, they also got to taste his work. Looks delicious!
