Here at Local First Arizona, we're all about sustainable communities. There is more to the idea of sustainability than the environment, though, as we cannot forget about economic sustainability and healthy local economies. The way to create a wholesome sustainable Arizona is to remember to choose local whenever you can. You can even celebrate sustainability with many Local First Arizona members this April! bisbeeBisbee Bans the use of Plastic Bags April 22, 7am - 12pm On April 22, businesses will no longer be allowed to dispense plastic bags and will have to offer paper bags if customers do not bring their own reusable bags. To mark the importance of the plastic bag ban to our community the Mayor of Bisbee, Adriana Badal, will be heading a team of volunteers to clean up the 'Arizona flags' marring the landscape of Bisbee. In addition to cleaning areas, the group will hand out 1000 reusable bags throughout the three main districts of Bisbee. Schedule: 7 am - Meet at City Hall (bring your own bags- gloves, water, etc.); 9:30 am - Meet at High Desert Market for coffee/juice/muffins/scones sponsored by Richard Rosales at APS; 10:30 am - Help distribute free reusable bags to merchants in all three wards and to residents at Safeway.
