Viva La Local Food Festival to Celebrate Arizona's Local Foods

Local First AZ member Heirloom Farmers Market is putting on its first ever Viva La Local Food Festival on Sunday April 6th at Rillito Downs Park – 4502 N. 1st Ave. The festival will feature farmers market vendors, fantastic local restaurants, local beer and wine and great live music.

"The festival came about as a way for the Heirloom Farmers Markets to embrace the local food scene while having to move the Farmers Market to make way for the Arts in the Plaza event," says Heirloom's Roxanne Garcia.  "We are creating our biggest farmers market yet- over 75 farmers market vendors, local restaurants, local breweries and wineries, and live entertainment. You could say we are loco for local!"

The farmers market will begin at 9am.  Admission to the event is free, and parking is free up until 10:30am.  Those who come early for the farmers market can take advantage of a special Veggie Valet service. The Veggie Valet will store fresh produce purchases for festival visitors while they enjoy food, drinks and music during the event. The general event begins at 11:00 am and lasts until 5:00 pm. Local restaurants, including Mama’s Hawaiian Bar-B-Cue, Mother Hubbard’s Cafe, Proper, Queen Creek Olive Oil, Rocco’s Little Chicago Pizza and several others will be offering tasting plates.  There will also be beer and wine available from Borderlands Brewing Co, Dragoon Brewing Company, Ten-Fifty Five Brewing as well as many others.  Drinks and tasting plates are only $5 each.

The festival will feature free musical performances from artists Sergio Mendoza Y La Orkesta, Naim Amor, Vox Urbana, Carlos Arzate and Pork Torta.  This is an event you don't want to miss!  We will have a table at the event, so be sure to drop by and say hello and learn about how you can support Arizona's local foods!
