Member Spotlight: REILLY Craft Pizza + Drink transforms funeral home into hip Tucson eatery
This Southern Arizona Member Spotlight is on REILLY Craft Pizza + Drink
Are you hearing the buzz about up and coming downtown Tucson? Among the best of the best of Tucson’s dining scene is REILLY Craft Pizza + Drink, located at 101 E. Pennington Avenue.
Reilly is a modern Italian eatery and artisan pizzeria that features a casual setting complete with a vibrant indoor/outdoor beer garden. Proving that foodies appreciate versatile menu selection, Reilly’s could also pass as comfort food/gastropub with a wide-ranging menu that includes shrimp & grits alongside stuffed fried squash blossoms, calabrian chicken wings, and slow cooked broccoli and taleggio pizza – gourmet dining at moderate prices. Reilly also features over forty beers and eight wines on tap and has embraced the new wave of micro-brewing by participating in “tap takeovers” of craft breweries, especially Arizona-made brews. Embracing its culinary creativeness, Reilly also features a uniquely fun and fresh drink menu, with plenty of great twists on old classics, like the Gentleman’s G&T which includes Plymouth gin, Domaine de Canton, mixed-berry preserves, cracked pepper, mint, and ginger beer.
If the eclectic menu and vast drink selection isn’t enough to strike your curiosity, did you know this funky refurbished building was once a funeral home? Built in 1906, Reilly Funeral Home operated in the three-story brick building from 1908 to 1990. Having always been interested in food and cooking, Reilly’s young chef/owner, Tyler Fenton, saw great potential for a restaurant in the building when his father bought it in 2007. Several years later, Tyler and his brother Zach drafted business plans for the restaurant space, construction began in early 2012, and REILLY Craft Pizza & Drink opened its doors in August 2012. Since opening just over a year and a half ago, Reilly’s has made its mark. Don’t miss out on this unique downtown Tucson eatery!
