Out on the Range: Cattle Ranchin’ in Arizona

This member spotlight is on Morrison Brothers Windmill Ranch Morrison Brothers Windmill Ranch Man on HorseFor more than 30 years, Morrison Brothers Windmill Ranch, a working cattle ranch, has been owned and operated by the Morrison family. Armed with the scenic terrain of Newman Park just south of Flagstaff, Windmill Ranch is nestled among the Ponderosa Pine forest of the Northern Arizona high country. The ranch has a variety of cattle for sale, depending on the time of year, however, the cow and calf operation primarily focuses on producing Black Angus and Black Baldy calves. Additionally, in the summer of 2013, the Ranch’s northern lands were opened for western trail horseback riding, allowing riders to take in a rare view of the San Francisco Peaks while traversing grasslands and forests of Newman Park. Windmill Ranch is a local business to watch in 2014 – thanks to support the local Flagstaff businesses the Ranch sold out of its locally fed, Arizona-raised beef, and in the summer of 2014 there is talk that those beautiful horseback riding trails may open again.
