‘Tis the season to give back! LFA has great lists of local shelters, hospitals, food banks and nonprofits that you can give to or volunteer with, but we wanted to also highlight the fact that many of our members are pitching in and making a community impact this year as well!
This year, Walking J Farm is working with the Girl Scouts of America to sponsor local families in need this holiday season with their “Share the Harvest” Program. Rather than do a canned food drive, this year they are asking members to donate a portion of their CSA shares back to “Share the Harvest.” For jut 60 cents per week, CSA members can pitch in to ensure that these families have fresh, high quality produce for their holiday meals this year! To participate, contact Tina at [email protected].
Alfonso Gourmet Olive Oil & Balsalmics is supporting over 40 local charities in Tucson this year, by donating gift certificates and products, gift baskets, tasting demonstrations and more!
Urban Beans at Osborn and 7th Street in Phoenix is a locally owned community based coffee shop that is dedicated to giving back to the community! This holiday season, the company will make regular food donations to Waste NOT, a local organization fighting to end hunger in our community!
Bring canned food when you visit the Dragoon Brewing Co Taproom at 1859 W Grant Road in Tucson this month, because Dragoon is sponsoring the Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona this year! There are two ways to give: 1) Donate nonperishable food items directly at the taproom in their collection box, or 2) Purchase some beer for yourself, because $2 from every growler sale will also be donated back to the Food Bank! If you have questions, contact Tristan at [email protected].
Happy Cat Confections is sponsoring a brave young Phoenix Children’s Hospital Patient, named Emma, in her four-year battle with spinal cancer this holiday season. This year, $1 of every box sold up until 12/25 will be donated back to the family to help pay for physical therapy after spinal corrective surgery. Additionally, patrons may purchase packs of Emma’s holiday cards on the online store. Patrons who purchase a gift box AND holiday cards will double Happy Cat’s donation to $2 per box. Nothing feels better than being (and eating) sweet, which is why Happy Cat Confections is working hard this year to make sure Emma gets the physical therapy she needs!
Lox Stock & Bagel is running an in-house canned food drive in conjunction with the McCormick Ranch Holiday Event. Stop by this month to drop off non-perishable food items for the Vista del Camino Food Pantry!
