LOCAL FIRST ARIZONA’S CERTIFIED LOCAL FALL FESTIVAL TO BRING COMMUNITY AND LOCAL BUSINESSES TOGETHERNinth annual celebration expected to draw thousands
Phoenix, AZ (September 11, 2013) - The Certified Local Fall Festival, held this year on November 9 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., is returning with even more local merchants, entertainment, food, drink, and activities the whole family can enjoy. The Fall Festival will again be located at Portland Parkway, 10 W Portland St., right in the heart of downtown Phoenix.
“We have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from the community for this annual event,” says Kimber Lanning, Director of Local First Arizona. “When we first started nine years ago, it was just 25 vendors and several hundred attendees, and now it’s grown into an integral community event. This shows that each year, more and more people are making the connection between our communities’ wellbeing and the strength of our local businesses.”
The Certified Local Fall Festival is sponsored in part by APS, Wist Office Products, SCF Arizona, Scott’s Marketplace, PRIDE Group, Bookmans, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale, KidStop Toys, and Mountainside Fitness. The restaurant booths and the Food Truck Court will be expanded this year to feature nearly 30 food vendors, including Postino, Windsor, St. Frances, Downtown Public Market, Short Leash Hot Dogs, Island Loco, Bruce Brown Catering, Awesome Cookie Company, Grateful Spoon Gelato, and many more. Other notable vendors this year include Samurai Comics, Noble Beast Pet Boutique, Zia Records, Bunky Boutique, Desert Song Yoga, Practical Art, Sphinx Date Ranch, Smeeks, Frances Boutique, and many others. Guests will be able to sample a variety of Arizona-made brews and wines at the Beer and Wine Garden, and kids will be able to partake in a variety of fun activities including all kinds of yard games courtesy of Sam Fox's Yard, a bounce house, face painting, arts and crafts, and more. Live music and performances will entertain the crowds for the duration of the festival.
The Certified Local Fall Festival is family and pet friendly, and is free to attend. Food and drink tickets will be on sale for $1 each. Food samples will require one ticket each (unless otherwise specified), and drink samples will require two tickets. Some food vendors will have full sized items for sale. Raffle tickets will be sold on site for over 100 raffle prizes donated by Local First Arizona members. Additionally, attendees will be able to jumpstart their holiday shopping at the silent auction tent, featuring items from over 100 local businesses. The festival will be a few steps away from the light rail station at Roosevelt St. and Central Avenue, and festival attendees are encouraged to ride the light rail.
