16 Ways To Entertain Your Kids This Summer

Keep your kids engaged in fun learning this summer! Bookmans Entertainment Exchange (Phoenix, Tucson, Mesa, Flagstaff) Throughout the summer, Bookmans hosts interactive events nearly every single day throughout their six locations across the state. The Heard Museum (Phoenix) Once again the Heard is offering its famous Summer Passes, giving families maximum value as they enjoy visiting us. For $25 ($50 for a family of four) you'll receive unlimited admission to the Heard Museum between June 1 and September 2! For select weekends in June and July, experience Hot Fun in a Cool Place, where each day will offer something unique, from movies to mural painting, from music and dance performances to artist demonstrations! Mini Time Machine Museum clubHOUSE (Tucson) clubHOUSE is a daily, afternoon program. Make miniature arts and crafts, play games and practice yoga and gymnastics! Activities change daily with the week’s theme. Weekdays from 1pm-4pm. For ages 5-12. clubHOUSE is limited to 30 children per day. Drop-ins welcome, but space cannot be guaranteed. Hubbard Family Swim Schools Blitz Lessons (Phoenix, Peoria, Mesa) These helpful and fun-filled “4-day blitz lessons” will be offered all summer long starting on May 20. Blitz lessons occur on four consecutive days in one specific week. Summer Movie Fun at Harkins (Statewide) If it's summertime, that means two things; blockbuster movies and the Harkins Summer Movie Fun program for kids (all adults must be accompanied by children). For more than 30 years, Harkins Theatres has brought back some of Hollywood's best family films to keep kids entertained and cool during the summer. Arizona State Parks Family Campout Program (Statewide) The new 2013 Arizona Family Campout Program is designed for families that have little or no experience camping. We hope to introduce you to the great experiences you can share with your family and inspire you to continue to explore the great outdoors! Click here for more information and registration.

Storytime with Mildred (Tucson) Every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. and every Thursday at 3:30 p.m., join Mildred & Dildred for storytime! This free storytime is designed for kids ages 4 and under but everyone is welcome. More information here.

Summer Programming at the Desert Botanical Gardens (Phoenix) All summer long, the Desert Botanical Garden is offering programs, workshops, and classes for children (and adults!) to learn fascinating things about our beautiful dessert. WHAM Art Association Classes & Workshops (Surprise) Classes of all sorts are offered for kids ages 8 and up! Get your kid in the artistic spirit this summer with classes in drawing, painting, fused glass, and more. View the class schedule and find more information here. 

Kidtastics Summer Dance & Gymnastics Classes (Scottsdale) Kidtastics works to provide children with the tools to build their self-esteem and confidence through programs and activities taught by caring instructors. Their summer schedule is now up, including ballet & tap dancing, jazz & hip hop dance, and tumbling & sports! Fun Activities at Arizona Sunrays Gymnastics (Phoenix) Arizona Sunrays offers several great ways to entertain your kids outside of your home. Tumble Time is held at specific hours throughout the week and is just $5 cash to have your kid run around their gym! They also offer a monthly “Kids’ Night Out” from 6 to 10 p.m. for ages 3 to 13, where children will enjoy a fun-filled evening of gymnastics, organized games, sports, jumping in a bounce house and on trampolines, and then wind down the evening by watching a movie, and can even sleep over at the gym! All Clay Kids Club at Tucson Clay Co-op (Tucson) Let your kid get a little messy and create some art at the Tucson Clay Co-op, voted best place to take family pottery with your child! For kids ages 6-12, get 4 weeks for $40 (plus $10 materials fee)! Click here for more information.

Monthly Kids Events at Changing Hands Bookstore (Tempe) Join Changing Hands for a variety of fun events for kids each month, including Costume Story Time, Animal Tails, Storytime for Preschoolers, and Club Read.
