Who Says Phoenix Has No Culture?
Wonderful things can happen when you mix some of our favorite weaknesses: foreign films, vintage Paris, Serge Gainsbourg, and 1960s fashion. We're so happy to welcome FilmBar, an art house/lounge bar/movie theatre to the Roosevelt neighborhood in downtown Phoenix. This little gem specializes in bringing rare film treasures, such as indie art house films, avant-garde documentaries, French New Wave flicks, and Japanese minimalist dramas, to the Valley...FINALLY! This Saturday starting at 7:30pm, FilmBar is hosting a fun-filled event called "Gainsbourg - Film + Lollipop Love + Look-A-Like Contest." Pull out your finest Gainsbourg-esque smoking jackets or your vintage mod ensembles and come decked out as the chanteur or one of his sultry lady friends. Sip on some merlot and enjoy the film "Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life." If you can't make it this weekend, the film will play various showtimes throughout September or swing by to enjoy a libation or two and check out some world beats during The Palace, stand up comedy, upcoming film goodies, and so much more.
