Eight specializes in the education of children, news/public affairs, lifelong learning, arts and culture — utilizing the power of noncommercial TV, the Internet, educational outreach services, and community-based initiatives. Arizona PBS station began broadcasting from Arizona State University campus on January 30, 1961. Now more than 86 percent of homes in Arizona receive the signal through translators, cable and satellite systems. With more than 1 million viewers each week, Eight consistently ranks among the most-viewed public television stations in the country. Arizonans provide more than 80 percent of the station's annual budget. In addition Eight, Arizona PBS produces its own award-winning programs, HORIZON, our weeknightly public affairs program, HORIZONTE, and The Arizona Collection.
